50,000 Shillings.
( The 1912 conference of New Zealand Socialists appeals for 50,000 SHILLINGS to enable their Executive to carry out instructions. It is necessary to mako it plain to Socialists and sympathisers that the time of fooling and faith without deeds is gone by. It should bo clear to all that if wo want Socialism wo must nercssarily make sacrifices. Tho fact must bo made plain to all interested that if wo want Socialism here and in our time we, havo got to put money and work into the bringing of it about. All that so soon as the people know what Socialism is and what it means for them Socialism will bo adopted; therefore 50,000 SHILLINGS are needed to send able messengers into every part of this country with the groat message. The messengers are able educators, and they need food and expenses, and just as the appeal is responded to can the work bo extended and made effective. The magnificent Socialist organisation of Germany calls to other nations for emulation. Some great British statesman, when asked what was necessary to carry on a great war, answered: "Thero aro three things absolutely and they are money, money, money. ' It doesn't matter whether he was literally right or not—the fact remains that under tho system of capitalism money is required before any great work can bo carried on. Therefore, the work of Socialism being the greatest ever conceived by the human mind, all who wisli it to be established and look to a brighter future aro urged to send as many shillings as possible. It will be fine if there is a rich sympathiser who will head tho list with a thousand shillings. Come, comrades and friends. 50,000 SHILLINGS. FRED. COOKE, Sec. N.Z.S.P.
