PRINTERS' MACHINISTS' UNION.

At the recent half-yearly meeting of the Wellington Letterpress and Lithographic Printers' Machinists' Tnion, Mr. McLeary presiding, the well-com-piled half-yearly report and balancesheet were adopted. The chairman congratulated members upon the satisfactory state of the union's affairs. There was a credit balance in band of £230.

After discussion of specific instances, it was resolved to draw the attention, of the Minister of Labor (Hon. W. F. Massey) to alleged laxity on the part of the Labor Department in connection with non-observanco of awards.

It was resolved to set up a committee to consider the advisablcness of establishing a~ mortality and retiring allowance fund, and to report at next meeting. A ballot was taken on the question of applying for a Dominion award. A« there were but three dissentients, the question was decided in the affirmative.
