AUCKLAND TRAM MEN
THE DISPUTE SETTLED. ATTCKMND, Dec. 21. A happy settlement of tho tramway dispute has been arrived at, and tho danger of a strike is at an end. This morning the union delegates waited on tho company's representatives, and demanded an extra £d per hour for the general laborers and car cleaners, the trimmers at tho power house, and the pitmen. The company's representatives decided to grant the extra $d per hour to the general laborers and car cleaners, and an additional \d per hour to the pitmen, but declined to concede the extra id asked for the trimmers. The concessions thus granted I/ring tho total concessions made by the company to the men to over £10,000 per annum, as compared with £1(5,000 demanded. The amended ofTcr was subsequently accepted by meetings of the men, and it is generally understood that botli sides are prepared to be reasonable in up working conditions.
