VALEDICTORY

MR C. M. JACKMAN FARE WELLED A very pleasant function was held at the Lawrence Golf House on Wednesday, when members of the local Go'jlf and Swimming clubs met to farewell Mr C. M. Jackman. Several speakers eulogised the excellent qualities and sportsmanship of Mr Jackman and all expressed their sincere regret at losing such a hue worker in the interest of golf and sw lining. On behalf of the two clubs, Mr R. C. Moore presented Mr Jackman with a cheque wishing him, Mrs Jackman and family all good luck in their new home in Mosgiel. Mr Jackman thanked all the members for their kind co-oper-ation with him during his term as president of both clubs and for the presentation, and wished both clubs even better success in the future.

The principal speakers at the function were Mrs G. H. Martin, Messrs R. G. Moore and A. Arthur (Golf Club), and Messrs E. M. Stevens rind J. Colgan (Swimming Club}.
