ROXBURGH GOLF TOURNAMENT

LADIES TOURNAMENT

SECOND DAY

The second day of the ladies’ golf tournament was played under perfect conditions, no wind and brilliant sunshine. The Senior Championship was won by Miss N. L. Gilkinson, of Invercargill, and the Bronze Divison of the Championship by Miss Brotherston of North Otago. Playing in the four-ball bogey match Miss K. Shand of Otago established a record for the 16th hole (bogey 5) with 3 strokes. At the conclusion of play the president, Dr J. R. Gilmour, presented the trophies, congratulating the winners on their successes. He stated that the weather for the ladies tournament had been all that could be djesired and trusted that it would be equally as good for the men’s tournament. Replying on behalf of the visitors, Mrs McCarthy of the Otago Club thanked the Roxburgh Club for the good time which they had had —the tournament had been very enjoyable and they wished specially to extend thanks for the hospitality which they had enjoyed.

MEN’S TOURNAMENT

After rainfall ovejrnight the course was in splendid order for the eoiumeneenient of the annual tournament on Friday morning. The weather during both days was ideal for play and a record

number of entries was recorded. Mr B. Y. Wright who is the present Otago golf champion, won tire senior championship with the score of 75—67—142 for the 36 holes. His round of 67 was one under bogey. Bogey was also equalled by Mr D. C. Bennie of St. Clair. At the conclusion of play Dr J. R. Gilmour, president of the club presented the trophies and thanked the visitors for their support. He wished to make special mention of the support extended to the Roxburgh Club by the St. Clair Club which was represented by no fewer than 18 members. On behalf of the visitors, Mr D. C. Bennie of the St. Clair Club and Dr Anderson, Invercargill, expressed their appreciation for the enjoyable time spent at the tournament. The results of play were as follows:
