FORMAL DEMAND
RETURN OF GERMAN COLONIES LEADER’S “IMPENDING ACTION” SPECIAL REICHSTAG SESSION London, Oct. 31. Herr Hitler is shortly expected to make a formal demand to the Powers for the return of Germany’s former colonies before a specially-summoned session of the Reichstag. This, according to the Berlin correspondent of The Times, is the meaning of General von Epp’s cryptic reference to “impending action” by Herr Hit-' ler. In a speech in Munich on October 29 General von Epp, head of the Nazi Colonial and Political Office, said: ‘‘We must jointly prepare a legal basis for the impending action of the Fuhrer which will provide a happy solution of our colonial problems.” FRENCH SOCIALISTS OPPOSED Lille, Nov. 1. Germany’s claim for colonies was rejected in a declaration of policy issued at the close of the congress of the Radical Socialist Party, wdiich is the strongest in the French Parliament.. “It is inconceivable and useless, ’ ’ says the declaration, “to accept even the hypothesis of redistribution of colonial mandates.” Nevertheless, the party does not refuse to envisage recognition of equal access to raw materials by all nations. “It would be an honour for Prance to initiate an internation conference to this end.”
