HAEREMAI CLUB

Monday evening being Club night the members assembled as usual at the Sunday School Hall but armed with haversacks, tins of spaghetti, mince pies, billies and mugs. Instead of the usual programme, fifteen members set out for a moonlight mystery hike. The route led over the golf links from the monument and through Gooseberry Gully to a beautiful sandy beach by the river. Fires were lit and the business meeting over, all set to work to prepare a variety of supper dishes which were duly relished. Preparations for the banquet were finalised and the moonlight revellers having seen the campfire out, continued their trek out on to the Domain, thus completng a round trip and a novel and most enjoyable evening.
