SEVERE EARTHQUAKE.
WEIiLiINGTON SHAKEN. Buildings Rock Alarmingly. Wellington, March 5. An extremely severe earthquake shock was experienced in Wellington at 11.50 to-night. Buildings recked alarmingly, but so far as is ascertainable at present there has been little damage.
CHIMNEYS DOWN IN SEVKKAL TOWNS. Telegraphic Communication Interrupted. Wellington, March 0. in the centre of the city some windows are reported to haw been smashed and crockery damaged through the violence ot the tremor, which seemed to have had a circular movement and was not preceded by any smaller shocks.
