NUDISTS IN REVOLT

ISLAND EDEN STORM Something like a revolution is tailing place in the nudist colony oi; the He de Levant, the most easterly of the group of islands known as the lies dTlyeres, off the Sreneh Riviera. The island is inhabited by about 250 men and women who wear only the very scantiest attire and spend their days basking in the sunshine and bathing. With no doctors, lawyers, or police, the colony lived a life of perfect peace until somebody had the idea of developing the island Eden. Commercialisation is said to be at the root of the present trouble.

A baker was given a 99-year monopoly fur the supply of bread. Another man got a concession to maintain a regular steamship service between the island and the mainland, while a third started an hotel called the Adam’s apple. Now the owner of the Adam Apple complains that he was overcharged for Iris hotel building and the land on which it is built; the islanders say that the steamship contractor has failed to keep up a regular service; and the baker refuses to conform to the nudist rules.

The consequence is that the island has been invaded by a small army of non-nudist processservers, bailiffs, and police. Peace and harmony have ceased to reign with every Adam and Eve threatening to sue their neighbours.
