In an interview, Mr Semple, who has just returned from the seat of the trouble, said he and his colleagues had been specially thanked by the Deputy Mayor of Whangaroi on behalf of the district for the efforts that had been made to start the mines working again. Had the mines been closed down there was no doubt that the town of llikumngi would have been ruined, and the business people expressed gratitude at the settlement that bad been effected.
