OBITUARY.
WILLIAM HENRY KITTO. Another old resident of the district in the person of Mr William Henry Kitto, passed away in Roxburgh on Friday of last week. The deceased, wh,o had reached the advanced ago of 83 years, had been ailing for a long time past, and his death was not unexpected by his relatives. The deceased gentleman was born in Cornwall, and came out to New Zealand 57 years ago, and the whole of this time he had spent in the Roxburgh district. He followed the ocupatiou of a miner right up to about 13 years ago. Ho bad been married twice and there were nine sons and two daughters by his first wife, ( of whom the following arc still living:— Mrs Wm. Coulter, Roxburgh; Mrs D. McGregor, Dunedin; Messrs W. Kitto, Alexandra; J. Kitto, North Island; T. Kitto, Lums'den; R. Kitto, Kaitangata; Joseph Kitto, Lowburn; H. Kitto, Abbotsford; James Kitto, Roxburgh. Mr Kitto’s first wife died 29 years ago, and 21 years ago he married Mrs George Coekburn, of Roxburgh. There were two sons by this marriage— Messrs S. and C. Kitto—both ,o£ whom resided with their father. The deceased is survived by his present wife. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon last, when a large number of relatives and friends followed the remains to the Roxburgh Cemetery. The Rev. R. E. Fprdyce officiated at the graveside.
