WHAT THE MAW AT THE CORNER SAYS.
That the "Old Man" has put on his winter garb and is presenting a wintry appearance. That the corner has been a cold bleak place these last few days and nearly everyone has gone to the show andi races. That the weather doesn't seem too promising and may greatly affect the "human race." That "quail on toast" seems to be the chief object of a party of Dunedin sports at present. That one party bi»d a painful experience. one day last week. That one of their party becoming footsore was placed on the pack-horse along with the lunches and liquid' refreshments. That curiosity of some sort caused the rider to dismount, whereupon the faithful steed took its departure. That one can easiy imagine their feelings when the animal wasn't recovered until the folowing morning. That the casualties among the quail have been small *,his season. That the golf links which have been a "missing link" for a long time promises to be a scene of activity this winter.
That Mulldoon contemplates taking
the game on again. That he should be in good form after the bowling season. That Truth's Dunedin rep. has fallen very low in the estimation of some of the witnesses at the recent Supreme Court.
That Mick must have sprung him a tip or caught his eye as he was the only one left out of his personal criticism.
That the latest addition to the Amalgamated plant is a "crane" and is guaranteed to "lift" any "weight." That Ben is back :n the village xgain but the "bees haven't started working yet."
That the "Aussies" are making a ' big fuss of their "Hawker" after his big flight.
