ETTRICK.

(Own Correspondent.)

Interest in educational matters seems to be at a very low ebb in Ettrick district just now. At the householders' meeting on Monday night only four of the old committee put in an appearance, and it was only after dragging out a nearby householder to the meeting that a new committee co>uld be made up. It is a pity so little interest is shown, for it is a thankless job the committee have at the best. A good turn-out of householders at these meetings either to air their grievances (if any) or express their apreeiation of the work the committee had done, would go a long way to encourage them to greater efforts on •behalf of the children and teacher. The committee are Messrs J. Cockburn, T. F. Dobson, T. Morrow. E. Bloxham (chairman), D. Leslie (secretary).
