SHOT AFTER BETROTHAL.

Yesterday evening the son of a wealthy Moscow merchant, Nicholas Povaroff, shot himself immediately after his betrothal ceremony (states 'The Daily Mail's' St. Petersburg correspondent, on December 27). Ho was engaged to Mile. Hadujda (Hope) Bubnotf, the daughter of a landed proprietor at a place called Ushak, on the Moscow-St. Petersburg line. As is customary, many guests were invited to the ceremony, and afterwards there «»s a supper. Povaroff drank deeply, and after supper went into his father-in-law's study to write some telegrams. After an hour his fiancee went to fetch him and found the door locked, but he told her that he would come immediately. As she turned away 4 two shots rang out and the frightened guests found Povaroff lying dead.
