Sporting Notes.
The local meeting is near at hand and everything points to a successful gathering.
The local trots arc well filled but the eamc cannot be said of the gallops. There are a number of horses in the district with a bit of foot but they have not bee» nominati d. ilie Beaumont and Lawrence Clubs have issued very creditable programmes for their forthcoming meetings which should be equally as. successful as last year. The local track is in very fair ordel for the meeting, but 1 would suggest, I hat after the m eting on St. Patrick's L)a\ the ( lu'u get the track put in order and sown down in grass.. With a horse and dray it would not take long to do it and by next year the track would be in excellent order. The secretary has me to mention that permits to ride in the trots for the day cannot be procured fo; less than tine ordinary fee, viz., ,"s, and applications must be on the prescribed form for an amateur rider's license.
The local Club want to move in the matter of a tote permit for their meetiiiy. Should they be successful 1 am sure a first-class country meeting could be run here.
