Aokautere W.I. Flower Show

A most successful flower show was held recently by the Aokautere Wo- I i men’s Institute/ There were many exhibitors. A feature of the show was ; tho decorative section, there being j many beautiful and artistically nrrangjed bowls, baskets, vases, otc. The cut j bloom section was also a largo one. j Mrs. D. .Scott won the champion bloom I special with a very largo oriental poppy; also tho trophy for most points in the show, and points prizo for cut I blooms. Runner-up was Mrs. Orr. Mrs. Brookfield judged the decorative and Mr. Sweetman the cut blooms and produce. There was a large entry in the I needlework section, some beautiful tapesty being displayed as well as knitting and beautifully-worked supper and tray cloths. Mesdamcs Will and Child judged the cooking and needlework. The children’s section came in for a lot of attention, and tho judges, Mr. and Mrs. L. Craven, spoke highly of the work. The woodwork of the boys and the felt work and soft toys of the girls, made a grand display, witn some very lifeline pastel drawings of animals and birds done by tho younger children.
