Lord Alanbrooke Arriving At Ohakea Today
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. In the course of a lightning tour of the Iffipetfial Forces, which lias already taken him to Japan, India and Australia, Field-Marshal Lord Alanbrooke, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, will arrive by air at Ohakea about 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon after a flight from Australia. * Lord Alanbrooke will remain in New Zealand till December 1, when he will fly to Australia. Lord Alanbrooke will be the first Chief of the Imperial General Stall to visit New Zealand during his tenure of office. Iu the course of his present tour he left England ou October 28 and visited the Mediterranean theatre, Persia and Iraq before arriving in India. He then flew to Mandalay, Rangoon', Hong-Koug and later went to Japan by way of Okinawa. On his return trip he will visit Manila, Darwiu, {Singapore, Colombo, Aden, ‘East Africa, Khartoum, Jeddah, Cairo and Rome before returning to England. His round trip will be more than 33,000 miles.
After liis arrival at Ohakea tomorrow, Lord Alanbrooke will motor to Wellington, where he is due to arrive about 6 p.m. He will be the guest at a State luncheon at Parliament Buildings tomorrow, together with ViceAdmiral Sir Philip Vian, officer commanding the First Aircraft-carrier Squadron. Lord Alanbrooke will leave the same afternoon for Taihape, where he will spend the night before going to Rotorua on Thursday. After spending Thursday night at Rotorua, Lord Alanbrooke will motor to Auckland, where he is due to arrive on Friday afternoon. He will leave by air from Whenuapai on Saturdav for Australia.
