Manawatu Heads

Already seventy eamp-sites have been booked at the Hall Camping Grounds at the corner of Seabury Avenue and Dawick Street. At an avernge of five persons to a site (a very moderate estimate) this will mean 350 persons. The sea beach is still covered with firewood, but a great deal of it, though worth residents’ collecting for their own use, is not worth while for colieo- , tion or sale. All the good wood is further afield or difficult of access, so Mr. | Jay says. Some has been dVy enouga to sell straight away. Mrs. A. Dando, Senr., who has been in the Waikato for a long holiday, has just arrived home. Mr. and Mrs. Graham and family are staying with Mrs. Graham’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chaffey. A lady, wishing to travel with a young baby towards the end of next week, would be glad to buy or hire a dress-basket, cane-basket or other similar and suitable receptacle for tne baby to travel in. Please ring 48R, Foxton. A load of cement has arrived at the beach, so the skating rink will soon oe going ahead towards completion. Visitors repeatedly ask if there are skates for hire, so this would be a profitable enterprise. Sister McDonald is here once more relieving as district nnrae while Sister Little is on holiday. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Woodd and baby, of Palmerston North, and Mr. Bruce Peters, of Linton, are holidaying at the beach. The children’s grand concert on the night of Friday, 16th, was very well patronised and all the items were much appreciated, especially “The Ten Little Nigger Boys.” Action songs and recitations, dancing, instrumental items and playettes made up the programme which concluded with community singing. Mrs. A. Crowe was the pianoforte accompaniste. Six pounds was taken at the door.
