Nazi Haters in England are Listed
After Himmler’s black list of people in Britain, who were to be arrested by security police following tfi« invading armies comes the discovery of a manual setting out the measures to be taken against famous industrial concerns. S.S. men, whose job would have been to seize British firms suspected of dealing with German business men against the Reich’s interests, were told to work fast. This was necessary, the manual said, to get evidence for punitive reprisals and to secure records, patents, and process reports of value to German industry. Among firms listed for priority attention were:— s Unilever: “Controlled by F. D’Arey Cooper, a brother of Duff Cooper. ’ ’ The manual states: “He attempted to introduce, even before the war, tho fat blockade against Germany. Ivor Cooper is one of the members of the English Armament Committee in the War Ministry and recognised as one of the most prominent haters of Germany. ’ ’ Lloyds: More than 400 words are given up to the “Economic spy network of Lloyds.” The manual states: ‘ ‘’Lloyd agents are still in all important sea places of the world. “Insurance records would be invaluable in tho future punishment of German business men who had been forbidden to have any relations with Lloyds.” Imperial Chemical Industries: “Of special interest to German industry is the seizure of all patents handled by the 1.C.1. legal department. Most important of all, however, is the seizure of complete files of the central intelligence department, whose director is John Patterson. ’ ’ J. and P. Coats, Ltd., is said to have had “a strong pre-war influence on the German cotton textile industry. “Security measures must be taken to get all German shares as well as those in the hands of this firm. ’ ’ Among other companies listed are the British American Tobacco Co., CocaCola Co., Guardian Assurance Co., Oceanic Steam Navigation Co., Burroughs Adding Machine, Dunlop Rubber Co., Cunard-White Star, Kodak, Columbia, Graphophone Co, British Metal Corporation, Anglo-Persian Oil Co., AngloArgentine Cool Storage and Produce Co.
