During 1944 151 persons were baptised and accepted into membership, and for the nine months of this year 1)1 have been baptised. During this year a number of transfers of ministers have taken place, some be'ing transferred to Australia and others filling the vacancies thus caused. The Adventists are great believers in educational work, and are conducting 11 church schools in the North Island. In addition, of course, there is the New Zealand Missionary College at Long burn. Pastor 'Leeder reported concerning the young people of the North Island. Altogether there are at least 29 senior young people’s societies with a mem bership of 463. During the year youth camps had been held in varoius centres, as well as camps for the juniors. These had proved a great inspiration and help to the youth of the denomination. Pastor G. Weslake, of the home missions department, reported that ten Dorcas Societies are conducted by some of thy churches, and thousands of garments have been distributed in local centres, as well as many that have been sent overseas. Keen interest was reported on the part of the church members in ordinary missionary activities and in their desire to support the work in mission lands as well as at home. A special feature of Pastor Weslake’s report was the establishment of a Bible correspondence course which has been well patronised.
