Kiwi Seen Locally
An unusual sight in the district, that of a young kiwi, was seen recently on a property at Konini. The bird when observed, was a small, grey creature, slightly larger than a medium-sized chicken. A long beak characterised it a kiwi, although it was not identified at that time. It was* not possible to capture the bird, as it was frightened by the approach of some children, and scuttling away, it disappeared.
