State Operation of Tourist Resorts

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. A report from Franz Josef that advances are being made by the Government to the proprietors of privatelyowned tourist rosorts throughout the j Dominion, with a view to their being State-operated and controlled, and that it is probable that early negotiations will be entered into for the purchase of at least one such scenic establishment on the West Coast, was shown to the Minister in Charge of Tourist and Health Resorts (Hon. W. E. Parry). There was no general plan of negotiations for the taking over by the Government of privately-owned tourist establishments, he said. That, however, did not prevent the Tourist Department from entering into negotiations for the purchase of a place.
