At the meeting of the Feilding branch of the British Music Society last Tuesday evening, Mr. Rowe, the president, made feeling reference to the loss the.branch had sustained by the death of Mrs. A. B. Farmer, a member since she arrived in Feilding ten years ago, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. Mrs. Farmer was a violinist of note; she was for many years the leader of the Nelson Orchestral Society, which was recognised at that time as one of New Zealand’s leading orchestras. She was acclaimed in Nelson as a very fine player of Beethoven’s music, but she much preferred playing chamber music, in which she excelled. She taught the violin for many years and was assistant to her own teacher, Mr. J. B. Lemmer, at the Nelson School of Music.
