Tuesday, November 27 —Championship District at Feilding Showgrounds in conjunction with Young Farmers’ Club Show. Mr. R. V. Brown, of Wanganui, was appointed judge of both the type and cafe and attention classes at the championship judging in Feilding. A letter was received from the District secretary, Young Farmers’ Club Federation, submitting a lengthy list of junior associate'judges and suggesting that they bo appointed *to assist tho senior judges appointed to the competitions. Members of the committee expressed pleasure at the suggestion and it was agreed that a junior associate judge be appointed to act with each senior judge, a list being drawn up accordingly. Mr. J. W. R. Stewart brought forward the question of adequate recognition being given to children who had trained their calves to lead well, stating that up to the present no class had been included for handling of calves and in his opinion some steps should be taken in this direction. The suggestion provoked a lengthy discussion among judges present and while it
was generally agreed that ringcraft was an indispensable adjunct to the
showing of an animal, any proficiency in this direction should be kopt apart from tho other two classes provided—type and Care and attention. It was finally agreed to include a class for ringcraft at the championship meeting, Mr. Stewart giving £1 and Mr. S. Lind 10s towards tho prize money fund for this class.
Mr. E. W. Seville gave notice of motion to move at the next annual meeting of the club that the question of the part that leading of calves should play in the awarding of places in tho care and attention classes be defined.
