Home Guard Association
At the first meeting of the committee of the Home Guard Association, Mr. C. V. Ciochetto (president) presided over a full attendance. A letter was received from the Masterton Home Guard Association advising that Palmerston North had erred in its claim of being the first Home Guard unit to meet and form an association as their association had been formed 12 months ago. It was decided to send congratulations. After discussion re incorporation, it was decided to postpone the matter in the meantime. It was also decided to recommend at the next general meeting that subscriptions be reduced to 5s per year. A sub-committee consisting of the president, Dr. Hooper, Mr. R. Johnson and the hon. secretary, was set up to arrange a date and suitable function for Home Guardsmen. Over one hundred members have already filled in their application fornfs for membership and the president would be pleased if intending members would complete their forms at an early date; also to see a full attendance at the next function which will be advertised through the press.
