Only United States Has Secret of Atomic Bomb
Received Wednesday 12.10 a.m. OTTAWA, August 14. The munitions minister (Mr Rowe) told newspaper men that the United States was the only country that knows all the details of the atomic bomb, but the information would be available to Britain and Canada if they asked for it. Canada made essential parts of the bomb, but decided not to ask for complete details for security reasons and the United Kingdom followed a similar course. The Minister added: “It is a good thing not to have too much information at a time. All information about the possible industrial and peacetime use of atomic energy is being exchanged between the United States, Britain and Canada. Canada’s stocks of uranium are now sufficient, but about 20 prospecting parties are seeking new deposits of heavy water used to control the release of the bomb’s energy."
