Excellent Programme at Technical School Concert
There was an excellent attendance at the Technical School Assembly Hall on Thursday evening and again last night for the annual school concert in which a high standard of performance was maintained. The programme was pleasingly varied and there was evidence of much careful preparation in concerted work, sketches and plays also instrumental and vocal .solos, elocutionary and band items. Following was the programme:—
Group singing, girls, (a) “The Huntsman” (Jessie Furze), (b) “Silent Worship” (Handel); pianoforte, Merle Hume and Doris Belgrave; song, Vivienne Brougham; recitation, Gwen Wallis; humorous sketch, “Brains Trust”; song, Yvonne du Fresne; pianoforte solo, R. Henderson; play, “The King Who Limped,” cast, B. O’Brien, T. Wells, B. Morgan, C. Hollows, Murl Burgess, Thelma Duthie, Margaret Clegg, Betty Shirley, B. Jaggard, V. Anderson, Margaret Cowles; recitation, J. Humphrey; Russian dance, Margaret Wilson; cornet solo, V. Belgrave; band item, students of day and evening classes; group singing, girls, “Sussex Apple Howling”; running set, boys and girls, introduction, figures, 1 * Shoot the Owl,” “Wild Goose Chase,” “Three-Two-One,” “Lefts and Rights’’“Wing up the Ball Yarn,” tune, “Take her out and air her”; recitation, Margaret Henderson; piano accordeon solo, A. Rule; musical monologue, Margaret Clegg; play, “The Legend,” cast, Gwen Wallis, Yvonne du Fresne, D. Anderson, R. Henderson; cornet solo, L. White; song, Beverley York; tap dance duo, Maureen Dixon and Rona Kendall; band item, “Clear the Road” (dedicated to the liberation of Europe).
