Women’s Institute Drama Festival

After being in recess during the war years members of the Women’s Institutes in the Manawatu Federation have revived their drama circles and the first festival to be held in these years will take place in the Municipal Hall on Thursday and Friday next. There -jvill he eight teams competing, and Thursday’s programme includes

“Red Wax,” by Kelvin Grove members; “Charade,” by Whakarongo; “They Did Have a Time,” Aokautere; and 11 The Bishop’s Candlesticks,' ’ Oroua Downs. Mrs. D. Scott (Aokautere) member of the executive, is convener, and Miss Mavis Mortland the adjudicator.

On Friday the plays will be: “The Bride,” Shannon; “The Rest Cure, ’* Glen Oroua; “Waiting for the Train,” Kairanga; and “Widows,” Opiki. The first play each night will be presented at 7.30 p.m.
