America Prepares Return To Peace Production

Received Friday, 10.60 p.m. WASHINGTON, August 10. Fresident Truman, in a letter to the War Production Board Director (Mr. Kurg) urging immediate steps to speed the re-conversion of industry to peacetime production, recommended that controls he lifted as soon as possible. President Truman ordered a vigorous drive to expand the production of scarce materials to meet civilian requirements, also the allocation of scarce materials for the production of low-priced items essential to the success of the stabilisation programme, also measures to avoid speculative hoarding and to break bottlenecks.
