At a recent meeting of the board of the Cheltenham Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd. Mr. C. G. C. Dermer, who has occupied the position of chairman of directors for over 26 years, intimated that he was not seeking re-election for health reasons. Mr. J. T. Moar, of Pohangina, was elected chairman. At the bi-annual conference of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association the election of officers resulted: President, Mr. J. G. Churchill (Wellington, re-elected); executive committee, senior vice-president, Mr. G. A. Wilkes (Wellington), junior vice-president, Mr. 1). A. Palmer (Dunedin), Messrs T. Falconer (Hastings), M. A. Griffin (Palmerston North), L. A. Haynes (Christchurch), W. M. Huntington (Hamilton), >S. M. A. Lamont (Westport), and Mr. P. W. Twiss (Wellington). Students of the Palmerston North Technical School gathered in the Assembly Hall yesterday to farewell two young Britons who have been their associates during some of the war years and are sliortlj r returning to their Homeland. Feelings were mixed at the function for the boys. Reginald Dunford, of Portsmouth, and David Trench, of Glasgow, have held special places in the estimation of their fellow students, but all were glad they would soon be returning to their family circles. Beryl Mallet and J. Gabbie, head prefects, presented the boys with parting gifts wishing them “God speed” on their journey.
