July Wedding at Feilding
GREEN —WITHER A pretty wedding of widespread interest was recently solemnised at St. John’s Church, Feiiding, when Joy Sybil, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wither, of Cheltenham, was married to Kevin Oliver, youngest sou of Mr. and Mrs. J. Green, of Mangaweka. The Rev. F. E. Fleury was the officiating minister with Mr. Golding at the organ. The church was artistically decorated with poppies and asparagus fern. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked a picture of girlish grace in her gown of ivory cloque featuring a long bodice with a heart-shaped neckline trimmed with a spray of orange blossom which had been worn by her mother at her wedding. Long, close fitting sleeves finished in a point over the hands and he* full skirt sw r ept into a long oval train. A tulle veil, lent by a friend, was arranged as a fan at the back of her head and held by a beautiful spray of orange blossoms and fell to form a second tram. The only ornament was a gold locket and chain which had belonged to her grandmother. She carried a bouquet of freesias, cyclamen, daphne ana maidenhair fern. A trio of pretty bridesmaids were Misses Jean Anderson, Muriel Sinclair and Betty Wither, who wore frocks designed on similar lines to the bride’s in shades of teal, soft rose pink and gold respectively with, bouquets and topknots to tone. They wore gold chains with heart-shaped pendants, the gifts of the bridegroom. Helen Carran, as flower girl, completed the bridal party in a dainty long frock of cream cloque with a muff trimmed with tulle and decorated with a sprig of heath and riboons to tone with tne bridesmaids’ frocks. She wore a gold bangle, a present from the bridegroom. The bridegroom was supported oy his brother, Mr. Tony Green, as best man and Messrs F. Noble and T. Moyle were groomsmen. Messrs D. Sinclair and G. Anderson w r ere ushers. Mr. and Mrs. Wither assistod by Mr. and Mrs. Gjeen welcomed many guests at the reception held in the Beresford Tearooms. Mrs. Wither wore a black suit with emerald green accessories and her spray was of scarlet flowers. Mrs. Green-’s suit was of Air Force blue with matching coat and she wore a spray of helleborus and ferns. The tables were attractively set and a spray of daphne sent by a friend from Wanganui was in each guest’s place. A three tiered cake made by the bride’s mother and beautifully decorated by the chief bridesmaid, being a special feature. Mr. H. G. Melville, uncle of the bride, carried out the duties of toast master in a jovial manner. Many messages of congratulation were received from all over the Dominion, together with numerous cheques and handsome gifts. When the happy couple left on their honeymoon Mrs. Green travelled in a blue suit with scarlet hat and coat and black accessories. Their home will be made in Mangaweka.
