United Women’s Missionary Meeting

At the monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union representatives of the Women’s organisations were invited to share in the afternoon's proceedings. Mrs E. Watson presided and welcomed an attendance of about 120 in St. Andrew's Hall special gi*eetings being conveyed to /Miss Johansen, a member who had been indisposed. Afternoon tea was served by members of the executive under the direction of the tea-conveners /Mesdames Harris and J. Sargent. The highlight of the afternoon was an informative address illustrated with lantern slides on “David Livingstone, Pathfinder’’ pioneer missionary, by Rev. Gardner Miller,, the people's evangelist, the speaker tracing Livingstone’s life from birth to death and stressing his influence in bringing H. M. Stanley, the explorer, to Christianity. Pleasure was given to the company with vocal solos by Mesdames M. F. Faddy and E. Twigge, the accompanistes being Mesdames R. Donald and Wesney. The vote of tlmnks to the speaker was conveyed by Mi’s Benseman, secretary of Wood Street subbranch, who also thanked the performers. Hostesses wc-Jcoining visitors and members at the door were Mesdames T. B. Worrall and W. Brown.
