Received Wednesday, 8.25 p.m. CANBERRA, July 4.
A chain of luxury hotels with floor shows and bathing beauties should be set up in the main Australiah cities to attract tourists, said Senator Arm strong (Labour, New South Wales) speaking in the Senate. The hotels should be conducted by the Government and controlled by a company. He added that increased tourist publicity was needed urgently overseas. Floor shows and bathing beauties were included in overseas luxury hotels and there was no reason whj Australia should not have the same attractions. Good hotels widely advertised would do a lot to attract people to this coimtry. Senator Foil (Liberal, Queensland) asked: Would you give them a drink after six o’clock?
Senator Armstrong replied: I think our present liquor laws are an absoi ute absurdity. People should not be expected to guzzle drinks and be out of the hotels oy s\x o’clock.
