“Drift to the Country.” That there may be a drift to the country, as distinct from the oft-lamen-ted drift to the towns, on the part of young women is indicated by the number of townswomen who arc enrolling to qualify as herd-recorders this year. Townswomen so far enrolled for the 10-days’ course at Massey College, prior to their being appointed to districts by tho New Zealand Herd Improvement Association, represent about 75 per cent of the total enrolments, whereas last year the percentage was less than that. LECTURER’S EMBARRASSMENT. Her voice gave out in the middle oi the lecture—a thoughtful student handed her a tin of Lixoids. Unobserved in the mouth, tiny Lixoids soothe sore, husky throats, keep voice clear and strong. lOd. at all chemists. Made by tttacey Bros. Ltd., 385 Khyber Pass Road, Auckland.
