RECORD CROWD AT P.D.C. STAFF DANCE
The P.D.C. staff dance,' happily arranged for Wednesday evening in the George Street ballroom, provided a fitting conclusion to YE Day celebrations. The large ballroom presented a scene of prewar gaiety when crowded with over 1200 lighthearted young folk, and there must have been nearly as many looking on. Under the direction of Mr. L. Rees as M.C. a popular programme proceeded without a hitch and there
were novelty dances to add to the fun and tho distribution of streamers, paper hats and balloons in keeping witli tho occasion. Savoury supper was served on the balcony which was an admirable vantage point from which to view a memorable scene of charmingly dressed young women and their partners, many in the uniforms of the Services. Mr. W. M. Sexton, managing director, and Mrs. Sexton held out the friendly hand and were justly proud to hear “Good old P.D.C.!” on all sides. These were spontaneous tributes from returned men who recalled many happy hours of entertainment arranged by the Social Club in their camp days and were delighted of the opportunity thus provided of sharing in tlie victory celebrations. Combining admirably iu the successful arrangements was the following staff dance committee: Misses J. Kelly, M. Smith, E. Mosely, B. Richardson, L. Procter, J. McEwen, F. Rees, Z. Garrick, M. Alderson, M. Soper, B. Kenyon, B. Cowdrey, E. Francis, C. Cooksley, D. Morris, E. Quinn, Mesdames Garrick, Ellsmore, Alderson, Soper and Bresnilian, Messrs W. M. Sexton, Oppatt, Gwynn, Watson, Osborne, Mandeno and Nimot.
