(From Our Own Correspondent.) In the recent report of the Farmers’ Union meeting, Mr. D. Duigan’s name was omitted from the executive. Delegates to inter-Provincial Conference are Messrs A. Wood and E. G. Billinghurst. Mr. IC M. Little gave an outline of the progress made with tho formation of the Farmers’ Federation. He also spoke on transport problems that had to be overcome and stressed the need for the conservation of tyres. Several questions on holiday pay to casual workers, etc., were satisfactorily answered. The formation of a Rehabilitation sub-com-mittee then took place. The following were appointed: Messrs E. Gordon, M.P., (ex officio), R. Deroles (local bodies), J. Oakdene (returned servicemen), J. Watt (farmers). The National Party meeting was well attended. Mr. J. Watt was re-elected chairman and Mr. A. Price secretary. The committee comprises Messrs T. M. C. Smith, J. Deroles, A. Wood, A. J. Martin, J. Boshier, A. C. Hall, E. G. Billinghurst, S. Stent, W. E. Boshier, L. G. Rose, Mesdames McCaskie, Guthrie and G. E. Rose. A vote of sympathy was accorded the families of two members who had passed away during the year, Mrs. Boshier, senr., and Mrs. Carr senr. Sympathy was extended to Mr. D. Martin who has been seriously ill. Until his illness Mr. Martin was secretary of the branch. Tho speakers for tho evening were Mr. A. Way, Mr. Caithness and Mr. E. Gordon.
Monday night being so cold, the children thoroughly enjoyed their games at the hall under the direction of the Plunket nurse. After a long busy day with the babies nurse takes the older children for games at night.
