Received Friday, 1.11 a.m. LONDON, April 19. “British Eighth Army troops have broken through the Argenta Gap towards Ferrara,” states an Allied communique from Italy. “The leading elements captured Boccaleone and are advancing northward. Eighth Army troops elsewhere consolidated their newly won gains. “The Fifth Army forces southwest of Bologna continued their drive through difficult terrain. The South Africans east of the Reno River made further gains. American infantry after a two days’ battle up the steep slopes captured Monte Adone and Monte Frati. Other Fifth Army troops astride the Plorence-Bologna Road substantially progressed.”
