Communist-inspired Shearers’ Strike in N.S.W.

Received Tuesday, 10.25 p.m. The latest turn in the shearers’ strike which has extended from Queensland to Northern New South Wales is a statement by the Australian Workers ’ Union calling on all members to reject the socalled “strike committees” which have been set up and to carry on their work in the interests of themselves and the nation. The State secretary of the Australian Workers’ Union (Mr. R. W. Wilson) and other executive members blame a breakaway group expelled from the union some time ago for the strike. The members of this group are said to be obviously Communist-inspired. The attempts being made by certain wellknown Communists, assisted by certain other disgruntled individuals who do not obtain a living in the pastoral industry to bring about the strike are in keeping with their activities in the past.
