Girls’ High School Swimming Sports
F. MACKEN, M. TREMAINE AND B. TUTTY THE CHAMPIONS Despite unpleasant weather conditions the annual swimming sports of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School were carried through most successfully at the Municipal Baths yesterday. The swimming and diving were of a very high standard and during the afternoon three records were broken, the senior long plunge, the junior long plunge and the intermediate championship 33 1-3 yards backstroke. The champions were as follows: Senior, P. Macken; intermediate M. Tremaine; junior B. Tutty. The cups were presented by Mr. G. Tremaine, deputy chairman of the Board of Governors. Members of the staff were the officials and Mr. W. C. Nichols judged the diving.
