A continuance of the very warm weather in Feilding yesterday was followed by a light rain shower in the late afternoon. At times yesterday the temperatures were very high. The Wanganui Education Board yesterday decided to send a letter to Mr. F. J. Gaze, retiring headmaster of Manchester Street School, in appreciation of 31 years’ service with the board. The big athletic sports meeting promoted by the Feilding Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club is to bo held on Ivowhai Park on Saturday next. Particulars are advertised on this page this morning. During the hearing of cases in the Feilding Magistrate’s Court yesterday concerned with the matter of warrants of fitness for motor vehicles the Transport Department’s officer stated that it had been found that in instances motorists had neglected having their warrants renewed for from 12 to 18 months. In the case where a motorist had failed to secure a warrant for a trailer the Inspector stated that it was just as necessary to have warrants renewed for trailers as for motor vehicles.
