WHAKARONGO There was a fair attendance at the December meeting, Mrs. Eagle presiding. Mrs. Newcombe read the balance sheet for the flower show, which was considered excellent and Mrs. Oxenliani congratulated the committee on their effort. Mrs. Johanson gave a report on the garden circle and announced a flower show would be held by the circle in March and gave a few details. It was decided to send a gift of money to next of kin for prisoners of war and to write a letter of sympathy to M rs. Close!*, whose son has been wounded. A letter from Ray Thorburn was read in appreciation of parcels received. Sprays w r ere presented to the president, secretary and treasurer respectively by Mrs. who conveyed the season’s greetings from members. An ankle parade caused much amusement and also a humorous vocal item by Mesdames Morris and Frith was much enjoyed. Competitions resulted: —Cluster, Miss Speedy 1, Miss Henricksen 2, Mesdames Clark and Morgan equal 3; single bloom, Mrs. F. Smith 1, Mrs. Henricksen 2, Mrs. Johanson 3. Hostesses were Mesdames Morgan, Wood and McMurray. At the conclusion. Mrs. Eagle conveyed seasonal greetings to all members.
