Senior-Detective A. B. Meiklejolm lias had to enter hospital for a minor operation and is not expected to resume duty for some weeks.
Mr. Allan McDonald, of Milford Road, Awapuni, who sustained injuries to his face and concussion when he was involved in an accident with a horse last Thursday, is making progress towards recovery but he is still confined to his bed.
•Sergeant R. M. Gillespie, husband of Mrs. T. T. Gillespie and a son of Mr 3. L. T. Gillespie, of Palmerston North and formerly of Woodville, has been reported wounded for the second time. The first occasion was just over 10 months ago. Educated in Woodville, Sergeant Gillespie took a prominent part in sport there, especially in Rugby foottialL In 1920 ho represented Hawke's Bay and later moved to Palmerston North, where he played for the St. Patrick's senior team. It was not long before he gained representative honours for Manawatu. He was a member of the team which acquitted itself so well when it challenged South laud for the Ranfurly Shield in 1935. Sergeant Gillespie also played cricket for the Marist Club. At the time of entering camp ho was employed in the grocery business of Mr. W. H. Boon. In September Private M. C. Gillespie a brother of Sergeant Gillespie, was repatriated to England after being interned in a prisoner-of-war camp. He was captured during the Greek campaign.
