Makerua Drainage Board
Mr. J. D. Aitchison presided at yesterday’s meeting of the Makerua Drainage Board. A letter is to be sent to Dr. Wall, of Moutoa, stating that, if any of the Board’s drains staffer in any way from his filling in of the spillway on his property, the Board would hold him responsible.
The clerk, Mr. N. L Nielsen, reported that the matter of subsidy payments had satisfactorily been dealt with, alter he and the engineer had gone into the matter and a letter had oeea sent to the Public Works Department. The claim for compensation by Mr. F. R. Nott re damage to a stop bank on his property, was Drought before the Board. Air. Nott’s repiy to the Board’s letter stating that £3O was unnecessar ily high, was that he refused to reconsider his claim. Trustees W. Jackson, H. Barnes and the engineer were appointed to go into the matter. ,
Mr. P. V. Tucker (overseer) stated in his monthly report that the erosion below the Tokomaru railway bridge had been checked with facsine work and also by shifting some of the acrefcion of gravel with a bulldozer. Two pipes were placed on Pedley ’s floodgate (main drain), thus lengthening the culvert by 16 feet. The erosion at Hemp’s floodgate had been repaired.
