Bells and Flags

CELEBRATION TO-DAY Tho Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) stated to-day that the liberation of Brussels and the entry of the forces of the United Nations into the Netherlands will be celebrated throughout New Zealand to-day by the flying of flags and display of bunting, and at noon by the ringing of bells. A request to this effect has been telegraphed by Mr. Fraser to mayors of cities and boroughs, and chairmen of county councils, town boards and road boards. “It will be an opportunity, ’’ said the Prime Minister, ‘ * which the people of New Zealand will gladly take of paying special tribute to tho heroic resistance of the peoples of Belgium and tho Netherlands against a brutal oppressor as well as celebrating tho further brilliant achievements of the Allied Forces on the battlefield.’*
