Youth in Flames

< USED INFLAMMABLE LIQUID SYDNEY, June 13. A Sydney youth, Leslie Francis Morvan, aged 17, who had washed his body and clothes in inflammable liquid, lit a match and burst into flames from head to foot. Before leaving work he used an ethyl compound to wash his grease-stained clothes and parts of his body. When he reached home he decided to have a bath. He walked into the bathroom, turned on the gas heater, and struck a match. His clothes at once caught fire. He rushed out of the bathroom callidg lor help. Then he ran back into the bathroom and tried to put out the flames by rolling in a few inches of water in the bath. His father heard his calls for help. As the father ran into the bathroom Morvan’s burning clothes fell away in pieces. The father seized a blanket and, wrapping it round Morvan, put out the flames. The lad was admitted to hospital with severe burns to the head, arms, legs and body.
