Navy officials have indicated that heavy demands for spare equipment could bo anticipated, and the industry Avas instructed to arrange production facilities to liandlo tho calls Avithout delay. It is also reported that manpower problems are becoming increasingly ‘difficult and that strategic materials for the manufacture and repair of electric motors were in short supply. Because of the heavy requirements of tho defence services, the War Production Board held out little hope of supplies being made available for anything other than vitally essential civilian requirements, and the maintenance of most essential industry.
