Discovery of Cavo During a search for a lost calf on his! property at Makuri, near Pahiatua, Mr. C. B. Tylee, who was accompanied by Mr. T. Rutherford, discovered a cave entrance in some scrub. When a torch was shone into the cavity the bottom ould not be seen, but when a rope was obtained and the men descended about 30 feet they found themselves in a ,‘avern about the size of a six-rooraed house. There are several subsidiary caves running from the largo one. In the main cavern are limestone deposits and largo stalactites and stalagmites, while a subterranean stream runs through the cavo.
