50-50 REPRESENTATION ON CITY COUNCIL <Ter Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 28 In the Dunedin Mayoral contest Mr. D. C. Cameron (Citizens’ Association) was elected, defeating Dr. D. G. Mr Milian (Labour) by 15,859 votes to 15,169, a majority of 690. For 12 soats on the City Council si c Citizens’ an/1 six Labour candidates were returned. Three sitting members, all sponsored by the Citizens’ Assoc in tion, lost their seats and were replaced by* three Labour nominees. *On the Otago Hospital Board Labour will have five representatives compared with three previously, and on the Otago Harbour Board its representation has been increased from two to three. V 2270 A referendum was held on the proposal of the Invercargill Licensing Trust to establish liquor premises in the suburbs, tho electors favouring the proposal by 5244 votes to 4212. At Gore the sitting Mayor, W. I). Shelton, was defeated by A. T. Newman by 1098 votes to 900. WEST COAST RESULTS Greymouth: Mayoralty, F. A. Kit» chingham elected unopposed. Hokitika Mayoralty: A. # P. Elcock elected unopposed. Runanga: E. W. Kennedy elected unopposed. Rose: K. O. May defeated J. Holmes. Kumara: No nominations and only one for the council. Polling was not heavy. For the Greymouth Borough Council four Labour, four Citizens and one Independent were elected. For the Grey County Council the extended franchise resulted in only one change. In tho I Grey Harbour Board there were three changes and in the Grey Power Board four changes, one employee being elected. . Mr. P. Blanchfield headed the Greymouth Council and Power Board polls while a lady, Mrs. D. Parfitt, headed the Greymouth Hospital Board poll. Hokitika Borough Council: Five new members. Westland County Council: Four.
