Feilding R.S.A. Committee
At a meeting of the committee of the Feilding R.S.A. on Thursday night with Mr. F. J. Allen (president) in the chair, a letter was received from National Headquarters, endorsing the action ot tlio Feilding executive in stressing the ’necessity of co-Ordinatiug all leave privileges of members of the forces in the Middle East and the Pacific. Feilding’s action in this matter arose from the dissatisfaction which had become most apparent over the wide difference between the leave privileges of those serving in the Pacific compared with those in the Middle East. It was considered that the Government should take action to remove the evident causes for complaint and dissatisfaction. The president and Mr. A. C. Murray were appointed to represent the branch at an area conference of the N.Z.R.S.A. to bo held in Palmerston North next Tuesday. Letters were received from several members of the overseas forces exposing thanks and appreciation at the receipt of the Feilding I>\S A. Newsletter. In this connection, the Apiti branch wrote asking to be permitted .o be associated with this service and the question was referred to the Newsletter sub-committee tor attention. In reply to the branch representations, questioning the distinction between the shoulder flashes of those serving in the Pacific and in the Middle East, National Headquarters wrote stating that in view of the fact that the badgeg had been accepted and worn now for some months, no action could bo taken at this juncture. Nine new members, including seven of the Second N.Z.E.F., were* elected while the transfer out ot seven members to other Associations was approved and the transfer iu of four members accepted. The president was appointed delegate to the annual conference of the N.Z.R.S.A. Consideration wa3 given the question of holding a smoke concert, but the fixing of a date was held over. It was agreed to hold a ball in the near future. Members of the Second N.Z.E.F. are to be invited to attend a special meeting to meet the Dominion President, Mr. B. J. Jacobs in the near future.
