Woodville Progress League
In the absence of the president (Mr. Henderson) the vice-president, Mr. F. C. Mackie, was in the chair at the May
meeting of the Woodville Progress League. Members present were Mesdames N. M. Burnett, Clias. Forbes, H. P. Horne, W. 11. Philips, Messrs Edgar Harding. W. Hughes, Irwin and Mr. Styles, H. and L. Pilcrer, 1,. J. Whittington and the secretary (Mr. N. A. Fau-
sett). Correspondence considered covered letters from the Housing Department and the Health Department. A list of proposed new Justices of the Peace was read out. The chairman stated he had
seen the new street name signs and they were a good job. It was stated that for a comprehensive scheme of afforestaliou, areas of about s*ooo acres were usually planted. It was considered that there would not be such areas available in the Woodville district. The Housing Department is to be written to enquiring when the building of State houses in Woodville is to commence as the housing situation is acute. Matters regarding the maternity hospital were taken in committee.
